Well, That Was a Pain
My laptop died the other day. To be honest, it'd been on its last legs for a while so it shouldn't have come as a surprise (must say that it lasted longer than most I've had - almost two years). But it broke. And that kinda messed up my week. Mostly, because I couldn't work.
So I bought another. And, for one reason and another (and another, and another) it took all of yesterday afternoon, and most of today, to get up and running. As a result, I'm a little behind with replying to things again. But I promise, I am on it. If you're waiting for something from me, you shouldn't be waiting all that much longer.*

So do you wish you'd bought a Mac, or it that a too painful question?
Well, yes and no. I mean, I'd love one (and have been considering making the switch for ages) but they are expensive. In the end my wallet won!
Hey Nik,
You should weigh up how many laptops you buy in the lifetime of a mac. I've had a mac for two years and it is only just got a little slower when I turn it on. They're amazing.
I should state I'm not being paid to advertise haha.
Did you manage to rescue all your work or are you a meticulous backer upper of things?
More expensive upfront, yes. But they last for ages and they don't screw up or crash. Anyway, I don't want to sound like a boring old Mac evangelist - nothing worse!
To change the subject, when will you have some more stories out? I liked your book and would like to read more.
My laptop's on its last legs, too. But it's been going for over 10 years, with two overhauls in that time. It's a Dell, so I'm fairly wedded to getting a Dell next time, too. I hope your new one gets lots of action!
Hey Alex - that's a really good point. I think next time will be Mac time, to be honest. And I am quite good with backing stuff up (thank god!).
Neil - hi! You're not the only one who's said that to me. I have finally taken it on board!
And that's very kind of you, and great to hear. I'm working on stories as we speak...
10 years! Blimey! Wonder what I've been doing wrong with mine, Sarah! Do you have any tips?
Dell seem quite good, from what I've seen, and I was tempted. But ended up allowing price to dictate, mostly and went for a HP.
Well it did break thoroughly twice in the 10 years, once in the last six months. But each time it was saved, at a total cost of £120, which made it pretty economical compared with buying a new one.
