I Hope I'm Not Tempting Fate

I've been very lucky as most of the reviews of my books have been pretty positive. I do realise, however, that it's not like that for everyone and I'm sure there'll be some negative ones at some point in the future. There's not much, as an author, that I can do about that - all I can do is write the best books I can. And that's what I try to do.

Anyway. I stumbled upon this yesterday and I think it should be required reading for anyone who wants to review books, and I doubt it'd hurt those who already do to have a look. It's the Ten Commandments of Book Reviewing and I think every one is spot on.

Any more you'd add to the list?

I think it is safe to say, that no genre or style of writing or whatever is going to suit every single person in the world. So you're never going to please everyone - no-one is. But as you say, all you can do is try your best.

the ten commandments were good, and very valid (theres no reason to ever be mean) what i'd say though is it may be better to not review a book you got to review if you just dont like it or it isnt your thing. sometimes theres a chemistry going on with reading, something great just doesnt press your own buttons. the only good reason to review is if you loved something and want to tell people about it.

Absolutely, Catt - people like (and dislike) different things. That's life. Not much we can do about it!

Angela, I couldn't agree more! Speaking for myself, I only mention books on here that I like enough to recommend to people. I like how it keeps things feeling positive. Not much point in being negative and critical because it does no-one any good.
